A clinical trial report, published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, examined the effect of supplementation by KSM-66 Ashwagandha in adult males engaged in resistance training. Compared to the placebo subjects, the group consuming KSM-66 had significantly greater increases in muscle strength on the bench-press exercise and the leg-extension exercise, and significantly greater muscle size increase at the arms and chest. In addition, those receiving ashwagandha also had significantly greater reduction of exercise-induced muscle damage as indicated by the stabilization of serum creatine kinase, significantly greater increase in testosterone level and a significantly greater decrease in body fat percentage. These findings are noteworthy because they indicate that KSM-66 Ashwagandha can help increase the body's adaptation in response to strength training and serve as a useful adjuvant. The double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial had a sample size of 57 males of age between 18 and 50 years.

Kartikeya Baldwa, Director of Ixoreal Biomed, the maker of KSM-66, said: ”In the traditional Ayurveda texts, the ashwagandha root is prominently advocated as an ergogenic aid to improve strength and vitality. While there are other published studies demonstrating the effectiveness of ashwagandha in increasing strength and stamina, this is the first study using a standardized, branded ashwagandha extract and demonstrating significant effects on muscle strength, size and recovery. This study also corroborates the findings from a previously published clinical study, showing KSM-66 to be effective in increasing natural testosterone production in men. The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, is the premier specialty journal for sports nutrition, and we feel privileged that the authors had a study using KSM-66 accepted in this important outlet."

Mr. Baldwa added, "From the scientific literature, we know that the ashwagandha root increases energy production, increases cognitive focus, and promotes balance in the body to increase or decrease key hormone levels to bring them to appropriate levels. These effects are perhaps responsible for the strong results we see in this study."
