Resveratrol is a polyphenol compound that can act as an antioxidant to protect the body against damage. In this study, the researchers found that resveratrol is very effective against inflammation caused by the respiratory pathogen Haemophilus influenza (NTHi).


This study found for the first time that resveratrol can reduce NTHi-induced expression of pro-inflammatory factors in respiratory epithelial cells and mouse lungs by enhancing the expression of MyD88 short. MyD88 short is a negative regulator of inflammatory signaling pathways and is considered to be A "brake protein" that can closely control inflammation induced by the respiratory pathogen NTHi. The study shows that MyD88 short is a key target that can exert therapeutic potential by inhibiting inflammation associated with chronic respiratory diseases. Researchers also found that resveratrol also has anti-inflammatory effects after NTHi infection, which further proves the prospect of developing resveratrol as a therapeutic drug.


Study On The Effect Of Grape Extract

The latest research shows that grape seed extract can reduce the damage of retinal ganglion cells induced by oxidative stress. As a result, the research team led by Academician Su Guohui and Professor Daxiang Lu of Jinan University/Chinese Academy of Sciences, through experiments on RGC-5 retinal ganglion cell lines and retinal tissue blocks, confirmed that the oligomeric proanthocyanidins rich in grape seeds can inhibit cell apoptosis. It antagonizes the oxidative stress damage of retinal ganglion cells.


The results of the study indicate that oligomeric procyanidins have potential applications in the treatment of vision loss caused by the death of retinal ganglion cells in glaucoma and many other optic nerve diseases.
